Description: Triticum aestivum (Wheat) is a member of the Grass Family (Poaceae). Wheat is thought to have been domesticated for human consumption around 11,000 years ago in the Middle East. Because of its worldwide importance as a staple food, images of it have been used for centuries as a symbol of abundance.
