       Common Names: Pomegranate
  
 Description: Punica granatum (Pomegranate) is a member of the Loosestrife Family (Lythraceae). The Hortus Kewensis, ed. 2, vol. 3, p. 194 recorded that pomegranates were cultivated before 1548 and are native to Spain, Italy, and the Barbary coast of North Africa.
