Description: Prunus avium or Prunus cerasus (Sweet Cherries or Sour Cherries, respectively) are a members of the Rose Family (Rosaceae). The Hortus Kewensis, ed. 2, vol. 3 list P. cerasus as native to England. P. avium is native to Europe including the British Isles, northern Africa, and western Asia.
