Liriodendron tulipifera (Tulip Poplar)
Liriodendron tulipifera (Tulip Poplar) from the Victoria and Albert Museum, Furnishing Fabric, Object Number CIRC.305-1956, 1834.  Clearly the textile designer misinterpreted the tulip poplar leaves from Audubon's Northern or Baltimore Oriole illustration when drawing his version for this chintz.

Description: Liriodendron tulipifera (Tulip Poplar) is a member of the Magnolia family (Magnoliaceae). The Hortus Kewensis, ed. 2, vol. 3 recorded that this native of North America was introduced to Britain about 1663. 

This chintz was printed in a number of different colorways.
