Description: Tradescantia sp. (Spiderwort) is a member of the Dayflower or Spiderwort Family (Commelinaceae). The Hortus Kewensis, ed. 2, vol. 2 recorded 14 species of Tradescantia sp. (Spiderwort), native to North America, South Carolina, Mexico,  South America, East Indies, West Indies, and Ceylon. The earliest introduction to cultivation in Britain was Tradescantia virginiana, the Common Virginian Spiderwort, from North America in 1629.
