 Description: Silene sp. (Catchfly) is a member of the Pink or Carnation Family (Caryophyllaceae). The Hortus Kewensis, ed. 2, vol. 3 lists 57 species of Silene sp. though we now know there are almost 900 species, most from the Northern Hemisphere. This textile image may represent Silene pendula the Pendulous or Nodding Catchfly.
