       Common Names: Hellebore, and depending on species: Christmas Rose, Lenten Rose, Winter Rose, Stinking Hellebore, Purple Hellebore, Black Hellebore, Green Hellebore, Bear's Foot, etc.
Description:  Helleborus sp. (Hellebore) is a member of the Ranunculus family (Ranunculaceae). There are about 20 species and most are toxic.  The Hortus Kewensis, ed. 2, vol. 3 lists six species, two of which (H. viridis and H. foetidus) are native to England, with the others originating in Europe and North America.
